NW Fiberworx Promotes Mary Kay Raymond to Executive Director as Construction Begins on Community Fiber Network
 
Saint Albans, VT — NW Fiberworx, NWFiberworx.com, the Communications Union District (CUD) dedicated to expanding high-speed internet access across Northwestern Vermont, is proud to announce the promotion of Mary Kay Raymond,PMP from Network Operations Manager to Executive Director, effective October 6, 2025.
This leadership transition comes at a pivotal moment for NW Fiberworx, as the organization officially begins construction on its community-owned fiber network. The project marks a major milestone in the region’s effort to deliver reliable, affordable broadband to underserved towns and rural areas.
Mary Kay Raymond has been a driving force behind NW Fiberworx’s operational strategy and technical planning since its inception. Her promotion reflects the Board’s confidence in her ability to lead the organization through its next phase of growth and infrastructure deployment.
“Mary Kay’s vision, expertise, and commitment to equitable connectivity have been instrumental in getting us to this point,” said the NW Fiberworx Chair of the Board, Zachary Burdick. “As Executive Director, she will guide our construction efforts, foster community partnerships, and ensure that our mission to close the digital divide remains front and center.”
Construction crews are now mobilizing in several of the district’s member towns, with initial builds focused on priority areas identified through community input and engineering studies of the most underserved. The fiber network will offer symmetrical gigabit speeds and future-proof connectivity for homes, businesses, and institutions.
NW Fiberworx is a special purpose municipally-led initiative formed to bring universal broadband access to the region. With Mary Kay Raymond at the helm, the organization is poised to deliver on its promise of community-driven digital infrastructure.
